Phase 3 Broadband Project Update

Poles & Towers will be used in Phase 3 of the County's Broadband project to build a network and provide high-speed wireless internet to
the remaining unserved communities in Victoria County. To date seven poles and three towers have been erected. For the next 2-4 weeks priorities included erecting the remaining towers, and securing land agreements.
The County's Phase 3 project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2008. The Municipal Broadband Committee meets on February 20 to review progress to date and future plans.

Weather played havoc in the last 2 weeks of January and put construction schedule behind. Despite the wind-chill temps, freezing rain and rain, crews were able to erected 4 poles and one tower is ready to go up.
The pole erected at Englishtown turnoff attracted quite a bit of attention on Friday, February 1st. Several cars on Trans Canada and Englishtown road looked and honked their horns when the pole was finally up.
Seaside and its subcontractors have a very busy schedule planned for 1st two weeks in February. Some of this work includes utility engagement, poles & tower erected, site inspections, land agreements and excavation work.

Phase 3 Update - Construction Crews Busy

Most of the land agreements for Phase 3 are now signed. Construction has started in several new areas with seven access sites to be constructed and equipment installed in Southern Victoria County, as well work to begin on sites preparation & construction, poles and tower for Northern Victoria County. January will be a very busy construction month.
Customer installs to begin later this month. Information will posted on this web site by end of January or earlier on areas open for high-speed internet. This web site will highlight the process to check on availability in your area and how to get connected. |
